Oracle’s Release of the PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management 9.1

Last year, Oracle released Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management (HCM) 9.1, along with PeopleTools 8.50, PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management 9.1, and PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal 9.1. Their goal was to drive employee productivity and effectiveness.

Oracle developed this enterprise software after receiving feedback from over 150 customers. The product has 21 solutions, 1,350 new features, 300 new web services, over 28,000 pages with Web 2.0 capabilities, and 200 industry-specific enhancements. Oracle hoped that these new features would help users accelerate business performance, lower the cost of business ownership, and address human resources responsibilities for global companies.

The HCM 9.1 user interface was completely updated with new elements, including chat, wikis, tagging, and discussion forums. The hundreds of new applications within Oracle’s Human Capital Management 9.1 was to help with organization, user productivity, collaboration, and business management.

Oracle’s PeopleTools 8.50 is part of the enterprise technology platform as it includes interactive customer features that enables them to manage, customize, and integrate the PeopleSoft applications. It also helps reduce the cost of ownership because users do not need to upgrade their core applications because of the enhancements of the new 8.50 applications.

Oracle really listened to their customers to produce a product that would satisfy all of their needs. Paco Aubrejuan, Oracle’s Vice President and the General Manager of PeopleSoft, said, “Through Applications Unlimited, Oracle is continuing to make significant strategic investments in PeopleSoft applications. With customer-driven innovations and enhancements, Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise 9.1 includes many new features that customers have told us they need today.”

This release is the biggest and most comprehensive that PeopleSoft has ever made. Recently, in late March of 2010, Ricoh Electronics Inc. deployed Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Human Capital Management 9.1. Jill Allen commented on their decision. She said, “We chose to implement the latest release of PeopleSoft because we felt that by eliminating manual processes and increasing the functionality we would gain significant efficiencies. We also anticipate increased user productivity and reduced costs as a result of the fully integrated system.” Oracle anticipates great success for Ricoh Electronics Inc. because of their decision to adopt the PeopleSoft product.
