The Time Is NOW: Microsoft Dynamics ERP Gets Real-Time Financial Reporting

Lately, “real-time” has become an important watchword in the enterprise software market—especially as software vendors seek to bolster their business intelligence offerings—and today Microsoft threw their hat into the real-time ERP area. They announced the general availability of Management Reporter for Microsoft Dynamics ERP, which is a corporate performance management solution that provides real-time financial reporting for medium-sized businesses.

Preceding Management Reporter was Microsoft FRx, a comprehensive financial reporting and analysis app for the same Dynamics ERP platform, and it seems there will be more iterations of this reporting tool, as Microsoft officials stated plans to bring more extensive performance management capabilities to the Microsoft Dynamics ERP solutions.

In particular, Management Reporter will extend Microsoft FRx’s functionality, and allow users to easily create and generate secure, professional financial statements, from P&L statements to cash flow reports. Microsoft is all about accessibility, and one of Management Reporters coups is that reports can be created without IT assistance; another clear benefit: adherence to regulatory requirements means better data integrity and accuracy in reporting.

Microsoft is really committing to securing the connection between business intelligence and ERP data, and it’ll be exciting to see how other vendors make similar efforts, and how ERP platforms will generally change if the marriage between the two segments permanent.
