QSP Selects IBM NUMACenter servers for Application Service Provider Division

NUMACenter Provides High-end Windows NT and UNIX Functionality to QSP’s ASP Environment

RALEIGH, N.C (October 26, 1999) – QSP Inc., a global provider of financial solutions and services today announced it has chosen IBM NUMACenter(TM) servers, part of the IBM NUMA-Q® server line, for its application service provider (ASP) division in the US. QSP currently supports 28 clients worldwide with application outsourcing, rental and management services hosted on NUMA-Q servers, including KOZ.com, Siemens UK, Northern Rock plc, and the Department of Finance and Administration in Canberra, Australia.
QSP selected IBM NUMACenter servers due to their ability to support large applications for e-business and ASP environments on both the Windows NT and UNIX platforms. QSP’s ASP division provides and remotely manages Web-based, QSP financial solutions and IT infrastructure requirements for mid-market and large organizations worldwide. IBM NUMACenter’s ability to consolidate storage through the NUMACenter storage area network allows QSP’s ASP division to quickly adapt as storage requirements fluctuate.
“IBM NUMA-Q has worked with QSP in the UK to develop a successful ASP business and is leveraging that expertise to enable QSP to bring its solutions to the US market,” said Jeff Pancottine, vice president of worldwide marketing for the IBM NUMA-Q brand. “IBM NUMACenter provides a highly scalable, highly available platform for Windows NT and Unix applications, a key requirement for ASPs in providing hosted applications and services.”
QSP Financials, QSP Business Intelligence and QSP e-Business Solutions are available to clients under the QSP ASP division, and are designed to enable financial process optimization within an organization for greater cost savings, productivity and control. The thin client architecture of QSP financial solutions makes it easy to provide Web-based applications that are reliable, flexible and secure. IBM NUMACenter servers support the cross platform nature and scalable design of QSP solutions. Under QSP’s ASP division clients utilize the robust performance of enterprise wide financials and infrastructure at a flat monthly, per user fee.
“The challenge that many emerging mid-market organizations face is having solutions and infrastructure in place that can manage rapid growth, while controlling costs and maintaining service levels” said Gordon Quick, Vice President of Marketing for QSP. “Our partnership with IBM NUMA-Q allows us to address that by providing scalable, flexible financial solutions and infrastructure for clients, with very high levels of service availability.”
