USA (May 15, 2009) –

? Noblestar, an IT strategy and management consulting company specializing in Rational Unified Process (RUP), announced today that they will preview an exciting new application at the IBM Rational Software Development Conference next week in Las Vegas. The firm will host a series of private seminars offering a first look at its RUP plug-in for ITIL, which brings the structure of the industry’s leading software engineering process to the IT operations arena.

IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is the most widely accepted approach to IT Service Management in the world, helping IT leaders expand their service offerings and increase service levels to deliver greater value to their business counterparts. Current statistics show as many as 40% of US companies wish to adopt ITIL best practices in the next two years. Organizations have already begun to discover, however, that while ITIL contains immensely helpful information, it does not provide an actionable process framework for implementation. This creates significant challenges and greatly increases the time needed to achieve a positive return on investment.

During the conference next week, Noblestar will preview its solution: a new RUP plug-in for ITIL designed to address these issues. The plug-in is a tool designed to enhance the Rational Tool Suite by breaking ITIL’s best practices down into disciplines, artifacts, roles, workflows and activities. It also defines process dependencies between ITIL workflows, and provides a common interface for ITIL and RUP, to help ease the transition between development and operational support.

Noblestar’s ITIL RUP plug-in will be available at no cost to existing Noblestar customers and anyone signing up for an ITIL readiness assessment. For organizations that haven’t currently adopted RUP, an alternate HTML based delivery mechanism will be available as well. Corby James, a Noblestar principal, commented “We’re very excited to bring the RUP plug-in for ITIL to the marketplace. After years of helping clients adopt processes like RUP, we know what a difference it makes to translate best practices into an actionable framework.”

The firm will host its series of free-to-attend seminars on-site, in the Parlor Suite at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Other topics will include the new Rational Portfolio Manager tool and Model Driven Architecture using RSA. Those interested in attending should contact Mr. James at 512-329-6697 or cjames@noblestar.com.
