KnowledgeBlue Implements Compiere ERP & CRM Open Source Solution for ALTRALUX; Integrated e-commerce, ERP, call center and fulfillment services provide marketing agents with real-time, anywhere access to vital company data

PORTLAND, Ore. (April 24, 2006) – Compiere, Inc. and KnowledgeBlue LLC announced the successful implementation of openBLUE featuring Compiere ERP & CRM for ALTRALUX, a high-tech electronic and optical device company. openBLUE, a fully integrated, e-commerce, ERP, call center and fulfillment operations solution is based on Compiere ERP & CRM, the primary open source business application software. The end-to-end, fully integrated solution will provide ALTRALUX marketing agents with remote access to vital company information, such as customer payments, shipping status and order details.

Completed in January 2006, the implementation was managed and delivered as an outsourced service offering by KnowledgeBlue, a Compiere Certified Partner based in Salt Lake City, Utah. KnowledgeBlue delivers the Compiere ERP & CRM-based openBLUE solution as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering that includes all the hardware, software, maintenance and support for a low monthly fee. This eliminated any up-front capital expenditure for ALTRALUX and provided a quicker time-to-market.

Paul Moody, president, ALTRALUX, said “We market and sell all of our products through a network of independent marketing agents. To increase efficiency and help agents better support our customers, we needed an ERP and CRM solution that would make vital product information available anywhere, and at any time. The flexibility of the Compiere-based solution made it possible to easily meet our specific needs. KnowledgeBlue’s expertise, service offerings and resources enabled us to be up-and-running with the solution within a short timeframe without having to invest in expensive technology.”

After a thorough evaluation of the available solutions, ALTRALUX chose Compiere because of its advanced technologies, worldwide reach, flexibility and low cost of development and implementation. ALTRALUX then selected KnowledgeBlue, a company certified to deliver Compiere via a Software-as-a-Service model. KnowledgeBlue provided turn-key support through all stages of the project, including preliminary planning, needs analysis, development, integration, installation and training.

Robert Kunz, president & CEO, KnowledgeBlue, said, “KnowledgeBlue worked closely with ALTRALUX to make sure that we were implementing the best solution to fit their needs. We were able to implement the fully integrated solution in less than twelve weeks; compared to the nine to twelve months it would have taken ALTRALUX to implement the solution on its own.”

Kunz continued, “Because KnowledgeBlue has built our entire business model around openBLUE, we were able to provide ALTRALUX an entire suite of integrated, value-added services such as call center, fulfillment and other business process outsourcing services. All of our services are built upon open source software, and Compiere-based openBLUE is the heartbeat that keeps everything else working.”

Jorg Janke, Compiere, Inc. founder, said, “ALTRALUX is a perfect example of how the Compiere application can be customized and adapted to meet the needs of our customers. Thanks to our partner KnowledgeBlue, ALTRALUX was able to quickly implement exactly the solution it needed for an affordable price.”

Compiere ERP & CRM is distributed and implemented by a global network of Compiere Certified Partners. Companies interested in installing Compiere or becoming a Compiere Certified Partner should go to www.compiere.org/partner for more information.
