IBM unveils first Aptiva E Series model powered by an Intel Pentium II processor

Somers, New York (March 03, 1998) – IBM today announced the Aptiva E76, the first model of its award-winning Aptiva E Series to be powered by an Intel Pentium II processor. The Aptiva E76 combines outstanding performance with the superior expandability consumers have grown to expect from IBM Aptiva PCs. The result is the ideal combination of performance and affordability.

The IBM Aptiva E76 features leading technology such as a powerful 300MHz(1) Intel Pentium II processor, 64MB2 of RAM, an 8.0GB(2) hard drive, 24X-max CD ROM drive(3), a K56 Flex modem(4) and 512K of L2 cache, priced at only $1,799(5). The system also includes top of the line multimedia features such as ATI Rage Pro hardware accelerated 3D graphics with Direct3D, 4MB3 of SGRAM and SRS 3D Surround sound. Consumers can expand the value of the system even further through special discount and protection privileges of IBM’s Owner Privileges program. The model is available now at retail stores across the country, as well as through IBM Consumer Direct. The Aptiva E76 will also be available in markets around the world in coming weeks and months.
