IBM Announces New Version of Developer Tookit For Commercial Software Developers

Additional Products Give Developers Unlimited Options for Creating Customer Solutions

San Mateo, CA (July 31, 1998) – IBM today announced the availability of its newest version of the Developer Connection toolkit (Volume 2 of Release 2), one of the many resources available to developers through IBM’s Solution Developer Program. The extensive toolkit adds more than 125 new tools, guides, white papers and sample code and 65 updates to the 1,000 tools designed to help developers address broader markets, reduce time to market and lower development costs.
The IBM Developer Connection is a worldwide multilevel subscription program offering streamlined access to IBM e-business tools, information and technology via the Web or on a set of32 CD-ROMs. It provides access to more than 1,000 leading-edge development tools to help developers build solutions on 16 platforms along with information on IBM’s latest strategies for developing e-business solutions. The Developer Connection is the single, most comprehensive resource available to developers exploiting IBM technologies. This resource is useful for those developers creating new applications, enhancements, or migrating to new platforms. It also provides ongoing help with hot technologies and platforms such as Java****, the Internet, Lotus Domino** and Windows NT***.

eNetwork Firewall* 3.2 reference guides and development management tools — reference materials for product that allows secure exchange of information while restricting access to unauthorized users
VisualAge COBOL* — a workstation development environment for compiling that enables users to seamlessly develop, modify, reengineer, maintain, modernize, and port host
applications right at your desktop.
CICS Gateway for Java for several platforms — brings state-of-the-art, open, easy, access to CICS from any Java-enabled web-client, such as Netscape navigator or a network computer.
Pricing and Availability
Commercial developer members of the Solution Developer Program can download the new version of Developer Connection from the Web site for free or they can order the tools on CD for $130.
Nonmembers of the Solution Developer Program can purchase the new version for $1499.
