COMPIERE EXTENDS PRODUCT FLEXIBILITY AND DEPLOYMENT EASE WITH NEW RELEASE

Latest Version of Open Source ERP and CRM Application Adds Support for EnterpriseDB and Streamlines Linux Deployments

Redwood Shores, Calif. (May 07, 2007) – Compiere, Inc., the leading provider of open source business applications, today announced the release of version 2.6.1 of its enterprise resource planning (ERP) and customer relationship management (CRM) application. New enhancements include full support for EnterpriseDB Advanced Server 8.1 along with customer-directed usability enhancements and streamlined configuration for businesses running Compiere on Red Hat Linux. With support for EnterpriseDB, Compiere expands its commitment to providing users with choice and freedom from vendor lock-in.

Compiere customers in industries ranging from distribution, manufacturing and professional services are asking for broader database platform choices and multiple pricing options. EnterpriseDB Advanced Server addresses this need. EnterpriseDB is a commercial-grade database powered by an open source PostgreSQL foundation. With its enterprise-class database functionality and performance backed by around-the-clock support and professional services, EnterpriseDB is well-suited for organizations deploying mission-critical applications such as Compiere. In addition to newly announced support for EnterpriseDB, Compiere continues its support of Oracle Express Edition, Standard Edition One, Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition databases.

“EnterpriseDB Advanced Server is ideal for Compiere customers that want the flexibility to select the database that best fits their environment and business needs without compromising enterprise-class functionality,” stated Andy Astor, president and CEO, EnterpriseDB. “EnterpriseDB’s compatibility with Oracle enables applications such as Compiere to work exactly on EnterpriseDB as they do on Oracle, providing Compiere users with high-quality database performance, reliability and support at a lower cost of ownership.”

Compiere 2.6.1 includes enhancements that improve user productivity and expand ERP functionality. Two such features are user-saved queries and improved control over materials movement. Compiere users across all functional and industry areas can now easily define, store, retrieve and reuse frequently used queries. Compiere 2.6.1 gives organizations with large inventories and multiple warehouse locations greater precision in locating and moving materials within their facilities.

The latest product release also adds support for Red Hat Package Manager (RPM), an open packaging system that allows Compiere users to streamline the installation and management of Compiere upgrades for deployments in Red Hat Linux environments. In addition to expanded support for Red Hat Linux, Compiere 2.6.1 runs on any Java-enabled server platform, including Microsoft Windows, Sun Solaris, MacOS and other Linux distributions.

“Customers rely on Compiere ERP & CRM software because it lets them quickly and affordably adapt their software solution to meet changing market and business realities,” stated Don Klaiss, president and CEO of Compiere. “The expanded product functionality and the new support for EnterpriseDB Advanced Server are a direct response to customer and partner requests for greater choice and flexibility in their deployments. This same set of features makes Compiere more attractive to the broader marketplace for ERP and CRM solutions.”
