ERP Software Predictions for 2011

The ERP industry is booming as companies are finding they not only need enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions, but the availability of robust offerings has increased substantially over the last few years.

ERP Cloud News shared a sampling of ERP predictions found around the Internet that may or may not come to fruition in 2011. Here is a summary for your enjoyment.

According to Panorama Consulting, small and mid-sized businesses will considerably adopt SaaS models and the buzz surrounding cloud computing is likely to continue as more companies adopt this platform.

Forrester Research also made their 2011 prediction, which focused on the importance of outlining what will happen in the cloud; instead of merely suggesting the use of cloud will grow.

CIO Magazine predicts that more companies will realize that there are many alternatives to the traditional ERP Software and that cloud-based solutions plan to co-exist with traditional deployments. In SMB Group’s prediction, the shift to cloud computing and SAAS will become irreversible.

In another prediction by Computer World, ERP will become more serious in the cloud and vendors who have built or re-engineered their products with cloud computing will create the real action in 2011.

Forbes shared its own predictions for ERP software in a focus that centered on Google, Microsoft, Oracle and other key players in this space. Big companies are expected to continue to drive innovation and roll out their best competitive arsenals.

ERP software available in the cloud and SaaS was expected to grow tremendously throughout 2010. This growth materialized and looking into 2011, predictions center more on specific areas, market segments and issues rather than specific growth. Don’t expect growth to disappear, however, as the integration of the cloud and ERP software is here to stay.
