Tyler Technologies and Ohio School District Enter $6 Million ERP Contract

Tyler Technologies, Inc., has announced that it has been selected by Ohio’s largest school system in Columbus, to provide its Munis enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Tyler Technologies is a provider of end-to-end information management solutions and services for local governments.

The Columbus City school district includes more than 50,000 students and has invested in a widespread range of Tyler’s Munis financial, human, capital management and document management applications. The agreement also includes related professional services, maintenance and support.

A five-year software as a service (SaaS) contract was signed between Columbus City Schools and Tyler Technologies. The contract is valued at roughly $56 million and is the largest SaaS deal to date for Munis. The SaaS contract allows the district to simplify its technology investment and personnel costs as Tyler hosts and administers Munis from its main data center in Falmouth, Maine.

The Columbus City school district also invested in the change management services to engineer best business practices and be able to manage the implementation of new processes and applications across the district.

Chief information officer at Columbus City Schools, Rod Houpe shared in a statement that the school system has a vision to re-engineer their business processes and adopt the best practices for efficiency gains to maximize investments in Tyler’s Munis system.

Houpe also stated that the school district is confident in reaching their goals with Tyler because of their project management and professional services experience in the K-12 market. They believe Tyler’s product and domain expertise will result in an integrated and successful deployment of Munis, which will positively impact the district, community, employees and students.
