Warrior Manufacturing Quickly Engineers, Produces Innovative Oilfield Equipment Using ERP and CAD Software Integration

Canadian Oilfield Services Company Utilizes Technology to Manufacture Hydraulic Top Drives and Design New Products

Winnipeg, Manitoba (December 01, 2009) –

Consona Corporation (Consona), a worldwide leader in providing customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and services for companies of all sizes, today announced that Warrior Manufacturing, Ltd., a Calgary, Alberta-based company specializing in the design, manufacture, and repair of oilfield equipment, has developed and produced innovative oilfield equipment product using the Intuitive ERP solution integrated with SolidWorks CAD software. This interface allows engineers to design its products within the Solidworks system, while manufacturing, warehousing, and costing requirements are managed in the Intuitive ERP system, making it easier than ever for the company to take new equipment products to market.

“Having these two solutions linked together is essential to our processes for both existing and new products,” said Glen Richardson, engineering coordinator at Warrior Manufacturing. “The Solidworks/ERP interface is very slick, and the integration lets us get product designs into production quickly by allowing single-point data maintenance and minimizing manual data entry.”

Warrior specializes in manufacturing hydraulic top drives designed to fit into small masts for shallow or medium depth drilling and service rigs. They can be set up as permanent installations (integral to the mast) or as portable units with a removable torque beam in the mast and come in three sizes: 75, 150, and 250 ton.

Currently, Warrior is using the Solidworks/Intuitive interface to design, and eventually produce, a drill pipe tong (“Turbo Tong”). While still in the prototype and testing stage, warrior plans to be producing the Turbo Tong by the end of the first quarter in 2010.

When Warrior began in 2005, it quickly realized the need to implement a manufacturing software system to manage operations and develop new products and services. Warrior sought software from Automated Design Systems (ADS), a well established Canadian reseller. Consona has since acquired the Intuitive-related assets of ADS, created Consona Canada, and established an ongoing partnership with ADS’s CAD/CAM solutions division.

Warrior rapidly implemented the Intuitive ERP solution, which integrated with Solidworks, a 3D mechanical CAD software, for engineers to use in designing products, also from ADS.

“The Intuitive ERP solution is a great tool that is easy to use, combining excellent functionality, a limited learning curve, and the ability to find items at any stage of planning or production,” said Mike Moellenbeck, general manager of Warrior Manufacturing. “We use the Intuitive solution throughout the business, so it’s extremely important for us to be able to access the information we need in a timely manner.”

“Warrior’s successful use of these integrated products can be directly attributed to the forward thinking and collaboration between the Warrior and ADS implementation teams,” said Edward Ugrin, president of ADS. “Warrior’s staff has always been progressive and a pleasure to work with; the best results come from this type of joint effort. Our partnership with Warrior has been about people, results, and an open environment, so these impressive results are no surprise.”

“Consona Canada continues to be dedicated to its more than 200 manufacturing customers. Warrior’s success is a great example of how the ADS commitment to customer service continued as we transitioned Intuitive ERP customers to Consona’s expanded Canadian operations,” said Vince Costantino, vice president of sales and marketing for Consona Canada. “ADS continues to be a key partner for Consona based on the organization’s tremendous local CAD/CAM and manufacturing expertise.”
