Microsoft Touts Benefits of Next ERP Software Launch

The third quarter of 2011 should see the release of the next version of the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP software solution. Dubbed AX 6, this latest version is expected to come loaded with a unique model-driven, layered architecture. These enhancements are expected to speed up software development, while also cutting back on coding.

According to Microsoft Dynamics officials, the effort invested in the latest Microsoft Dynamics ERP solution is meant to deliver added value to ISVs through improved maintenance and upgrade options.

Microsoft had announced in September of 2009 that it planned to fold four new technologies into the Dynamics AX ERP resource planning software platform. These technologies were the result of added capabilities the company gained in a round of purchasing of smaller companies.

At the time, Microsoft Dynamics officials said that the company had sought the handful of industry solutions as they were expected to help bulk out the Microsoft Dynamics AX product, which is designed specifically for the enterprise market. Now that the Dynamics AX 6 ERP solution is preparing to launch later this year, it appears Microsoft’s strategy has proven effective.

According to Microsoft, the company already has more than 100 ISVs on its annual books who have been working on adopting the proper technologies to prepare for AX 6 implementations over the past six months.

Microsoft expects to launch a technical preview of the AX 6 ERP solution in the next month, while general availability of the solution is still slated to hit the market in the third quarter of 2011.
