CH2M Hill Deploys New Oracle PeopleSoft HelpDesk HR System

CH2M Hill, a global leader in engineering, consulting, construction, and operations, decided to integrate their new human resources and payroll service center with Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk for Human Resources. CH2M Hill is a large company with over 23,500 employees. It was difficult to fulfill the needs and requests of all of their employees, so CH2M Hill implemented Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk in November of 2009 to enhance their HR department and to help them respond to employee requests faster and more efficiently.

CH2M Hill wanted to create a centralized resource for HR and payroll inquiries, so they worked with Deloitte Consulting LLP to deploy an HR center based on the PeopleSoft HelpDesk. The system integrated with Oracle’s E-Business Suite Human Resources Management System. Changing their HR system, CH2M Hill was able to reduce HR requirements by enabling employees to answer their own questions through the system.  They also consolidated their HR staff from 1 staff member per 293 employees to 1 staff member per 500 employees. CH2M Hill standardized and simplified their HR processes with the help of Oracle’s PeopleSoft HelpDesk. CH2M Hill successfully reduced their operating expenses while optimizing productivity.

CH2M Hill looked at six other vendors before choosing Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise HelpDesk for Human Resources. Since deploying the new system in November, CH2M Hill has been very pleased with the results. Jean Christenson, the IT Director of Human Resources at CH2M Hill, commented on the progress. He said, “There are not a lot of HR/payroll-specific help desk solutions, and we needed one that was HR/payroll-centric – HIPAA compliant, one that supports confidential cases, and that can protect employees’ privacy and confidential information. With our new HR/Payroll service center, employees are receiving faster and more consistent service, which ultimately results in time and cost savings for the company. We expect approximately 70 to 80 percent of cases that come in to be resolved the first time and have already reduced HR labor costs by 10 to 20 percent while accelerating inquiry resolution time by up to 50 percent.”
